I am working on an EFT book for phobia. To help my readers understand why doing this strange-looking technique is good, I wrote about the phobia I used to have and how silly I acted due to this phobia. It was a fear of mice. Although I had never worked directly on this fear, simply by treating clients with various animal phobias, I borrowed benefits from them and one day found out I had absolutely no mouse or rat phobia.
The writing fresh in my mind, I awoke this morning with a disturbing memory. I was heavily pregnant and
there was a rat the size of a small dog in the kitchen. I was terrified for my unborn, for this and many other reasons all involved endured at the time. I started tapping for it, the memory unfolding as I tapped. Tears of release came, and I kept tapping to release this pain. My partner, concerned, asked what was wrong, then helped tap on my head as I kept tapping elsewhere and telling of the memories coming up. I kept tapping and crying, releasing the fear, guilt, terror, and sadness, until an hour later, the rat in the memory stopped moving in my mind, and the image started to be fuzzy and black-and-white. So that’s where that phobia had actually come from, and that’s probably a contributor to my child’s childhood asthma, along with all the fear I felt during the pregnancy. And as I write now, I remember that I have not needed to take my breathing medication today, even though I had woken up wheezing. I feel so peaceful.
When you have a chronic physical condition, anything that either emotionally or physically has a negative impact on you can make the condition worse. EFT is one way of throwing away the emotional rubbish collecting in your system. In the same way that we dispose of our household rubbish regularly for home cleanliness and hygiene, I use EFT to dispose of negative emotions for my optimal physical health.
