Today, I went to a Pilates class. This was my second class since this month-long relapse. And some people may wonder why I bother to keep healthy if I have relapses. Well, I have about 2 bouts of illness a year, and because my left lung can’t easily eject stuff, infections and stuff stays there way longer than it should. Because of the tapping and looking after my health, I have almost no symptoms in-between bouts of illness. What’s more, the healthier I can keep myself, the less effect an illness will have on me. Last time, I made the mistake of going to a braai, a kind of barbecue that in the UK would be illegal because of the smoke and soot it causes, and so my system was weak and I caught a chest infection. So the way I see it, if two months a year I’m at death’s door and ten months of the year, I’m jumping with joy, that’s not bad going.
Anyway, the class today… It was so hard to do, because my core muscles were very weak due to the force of all that coughing. So, when there was an exercise I couldn’t do, I’d stop and tap. I’d scratch the top of my head as I said to myself:
“So sad, these muscles are so weak now, what has happened to me, I have to find better medication so next time it won’t get this bad, I’m doing all I can, I’m learning valuable lessons, OK I’ll try again, let’s see if I can do some of this.”
And I’d try again.
On a couple of occasions, I was almost in tears, so I carried on doing the exercise whilst tapping on the top of my head. No need for words. I calmed down and carried on.
As a result, I can already feel better, healthier, and I have more control of those very important muscles. Definitely worth it 🙂
When you have a chronic physical condition, anything that either emotionally or physically has a negative impact on you can make the condition worse. EFT is one way of throwing away the emotional rubbish collecting in your system.
